This exhibition is being staged in recognition of the 160 year anniversary of Maryborough being declared as an immigration point.
Its title references the short term leasing of allotments to Chinese migrants by European settlers during the late nineteenth century.
This arrangement benefited the 'aliens' who could not purchase property and returned the land cleared and 'fit for cultivation'.
Issues associated with the migrant experience will be explored through the medium of Chinese papercutting.
Exhibition opening 5 April, 6pm.
