Maryborough Regional Arts Council are proud to present the first of their Jazz by The River series featuring The Clint Allen Quartet. Enjoy an afternoon of fine jazz, company and drinks in the ambient Brolga Theatre Foyer.
The remarkable Clint Allen Quartet will be playing a program of music from trumpet players around the globe including Booker Little, Roy Hargrove, Clifford Brown, Kenny Dorham and also sampling modern European trumpeters such as Eric Vloeimans, Eef Van Breen and Markus Stockhausen.
Clint Allen holds a Masters of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, and performs regularly in a variety of classical, jazz, chamber, funk, hip-hop and experimental music settings. He has received numerous Australian Arts Council and Queensland Arts grants to implement contemporary music programs, and was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to travel to Europe to work with leading practitioners specifically involved in the creation of confluent/crossover music.
Featuring Ben van Jole on piano, Blake Lonie on bass and Dave Cotgreave on drums, the group focusses on tight arrangements and works that are seldom performed and that push the musical possiblities of the modern jazz quartet.
This performance takes place in the foyer. Cheese and Antipasto Platters for Two are available to preorder for $25.00 and the bar will be open so you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon of great jazz.
