Toured by the Grafton Regional Gallery, this national touring exhibition features the finalists from the 2018 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA), Australia’s richest regional drawing award.
Seeking to encourage and promote innovation and excellence in drawing, this $30,000 award plays a vital role in fostering Australian drawing practice, and attracts some of Australia’s leading artists who work in the medium of drawing.
The exhibition showcases the central importance of drawing, as an endeavour in its own right as well as in the further development of artworks. It further shows just what drawing can be – from performance and animation, from photorealism to abstraction, from the very intimate and fine, to large and expressive. It is a wonderful expression of the health of drawing practice in Australia.
