The Fraser Coast Technology Challenge is an annual youth and technology event held on the picturesque street circuit within the historical precinct of the Maryborough CBD surrounding Maryborough State High School and Central State School.
The event is a whole lot of high powered fun, endurance, innovation, imagination, spectacular excitement and awesome events packed into one weekend every September providing opportunities for students, teachers, parents, community and local industry to work together to design and construct a variety of human powered vehicles, solar powered machines and innovative robots that represents the collaborative energy of teams from across Australia.
The weekend is the largest student participation event in Queensland catering to children of all ages with Robotics, Primary Pushcarts, Solar Boats and CO2 Dragster competitions. The event's feature race, the 24 hour Human Powered Vehicle "HPV" Championship has over 150 participating teams of high school students who works as teams to race prototypes of energy efficient bikes that have been designed and constructed around a dedicated circuit over a grueling 24 hours.
The atmosphere is infectious as students willingly go without sleep and push their bodies to exhaustion all the while demonstrating teamwork and developing a sense of camaraderie with other teams that provides a positive and rewarding experience for all participants and spectators.
