Fri, 27 to Sun, 29 September

Hervey Bay Spring Orchid & Garden Spectacular will be held again at Xavier Catholic College in Eli Waters on north side of Hervey Bay. On Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September, the Show will be open from 8am to 4pm and on Sunday 29th September from 8am to 2pm.

The Theme of the Orchid displays this year will be “In A Tea Garden”. We welcome members of the public to enter the Floral Art and Foliage competitions. The theme for Floral Art is “Tea for Two” and it must fit in an area 40cm x 40cm and be less than 30cm high. Hanging baskets and foliage plants will be judged along with 55 sections of orchids.

There will be 12 vendors selling orchids & many types of garden plants and gardening goods. With such fantastic facilities we have plenty of tables and seating allowing people to relax while enjoying the Devonshire tea and be entertained by "Makin’ Whoopee" on Friday," Mansong" on Saturday and "A Cappella" on Sunday, all from 10:30am to 12:30.

The Garden Clubs of the area also put on displays and will talk to you about plants to grow in our Sub Tropical climate. The Bromeliad Society will have an amazing array of colourful plants for sale – some spiky and others a bit smoother! There are so many orchids included in each Orchid Society display from Gympie, Maryborough, Childers, Bundaberg, Agnes Waters and Hervey Bay. We do have a wonderful climate to grow so many varieties.

A cloakroom area has been organised so your purchases can be left for pickup and allow you time to look around (and buy some more!) before taking them home. This school has enormous space all on one level, allowances for wheelchairs and space for parking many buses of all sizes. It also has a kitchen for all the preparations involved that the catering ladies love, as lunches and snacks are also available to purchase each day. They also prepare more than 2,000 scones as a Devonshire Tea is included in our $5 entry fee. We welcome Bus groups from Retirement villages and nursing homes.
