Sunday Riverside welcomes Brad Butcher and Daina Ashmore for an afternoon of country, folk and blues.
Fresh off the release of his new album, singer-songwriter Brad Butcher brings his heartfelt mix of country, folk and blues to the Riverstage.
It may sound surprising for a man releasing his fourth long-player, having already won a Golden Guitar for New Talent Of The Year at Tamworth, and Country Song Of The Year in the 2018 Queensland Music Awards, but Travelling Salesman (2019) is a landmark for the former Mackay boy whose hallmark is sometimes brutal honesty. Co-produced by Matt Fell and Butcher, in Sydney’s Love Hz Studios, the result is an album which focuses even more Butcher’s mix of country, folk and blues, brings some different toughness to the sound, and highlights his ability to write about families, the natural world, and something close to his heart, mental health. In these songs, about breaking out of the boundaries others set for us, finding a way through personal darkness, or just remembering the love your grandmother showed, these might be people you know. They might be you. But even if you’ve never experienced something like this, Butcher wants you to understand more.
After several years hiatus, Daina decided 2019 was the time to get back onto the stage and entered into Hervey Bay's Unplugged Competition, where she reached the Grand Final. She has since been performing at a number of events on the Fraser Coast and is looking forward to sharing her music on the Riverstage.
3pm-6pm on the Brolga lawn.
