Fraser Coast Museums

A love of history is not compulsory - just a keenness to get lost in time on an amazing journey into the pioneering past of the Fraser Coast.

Follow a trail around the many Fraser Coast museums and historical collections to get a sense of the struggles and ultimate triumphs of the region's early pioneers as they settled the wild Australian bush, established farming and industry and turned dusty makeshift settlements into thriving towns filled with stately buildings and grand homes.

Reflecting the early history of the Tiaro area, the museum is set within extensive gardens and houses a treasure trove of memorabilia including old photographs, family histories, war records, rare coin collection and an extensive display of telephones, antiques and collectibles dating back more than a century.

Of special interest is a crocodile skin from a large reptile shot in the Mary River near Owanyilla in 1964 and a 1907 locomotive. The gardens have free BBQs and picnic tables.  Public toilets available at all times.

The Bauple Heritage Trail, a self-guided tour of the township has been created with interpretive signage for the 24 building sites from when Bauple was first "born".  A brochure is available at the museum.
