Poona

Poona, 35km from Maryborough, is popular with holidaymakers who enjoy peaceful surroundings, plenty of space and good fishing from boats or the beach.

Poona offers a great place for children to play and swim safely, with dolphins playing just off the beach.

When the tide goes out, explore the tidal pools, pump for yabbies on the beach or chase soldier crabs.

My Fraser Coast: Poona

“Poona is just 35km from Maryborough, and offers day visitors and holiday makers peaceful surroundings with plenty of space. There’s good fishing from boats or the beach and children can play and swim safely, explore tidal pools, pump for yabbies or chase soldier crabs.
Those of us who live here, enjoy this nice, quiet area. The people are friendly and contribute greatly to an active, positive community.  We have activities every day at the hall including exercise classes, tennis, yoga, games nights, line dancing, neighbourhood watch meetings and craft classes.
Drop by this Australia Day and join in our Sports Day with cricket, tennis, darts, croquet, indoor bowls and the official opening of our new putting green.
There’s always something to do, here’s some of my recommendations:

  • Community Garage Sale
  • Tombola
  • Family Fishing Competition every Easter weekend with entertainment, live music and market stalls.”
