Work starts on WetSide Waterslides

Work starts on WetSide Waterslides

Posted on 14 Sep 2017 by Our Fraser Coast

Work has started to install two waterslides at the WetSide Water Park in Hervey Bay.

The $800,000 project is being equally funded by Council and the state government, under the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.

“The two 8.8metre high slides which have a combined length of 140 metres will be built between the play area and the Flipside BoardRider,” Deputy Mayor George Seymour said.

It is anticipated that the slides will be operational before Christmas, weather permitting.

“The waterslides will add to the popularity of WetSide, and the Seafront Oval by broadening its appeal to families,” Events and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Darren Everard said.

“They will also enhance the appeal of the Family Friendly Fraser Coast to attract visitors and create jobs.

While entry to WetSide remains free there will be a cost to use the water slides.

“People will be able to buy tickets for 10 rides or for an hour of fun,” Cr Everard said.

WetSide will remain open while the water slides are built.
