Musician Profile: Vibeke Voller and Dan Papirany

Posted on 27 Nov 2018 by Our Fraser Coast

Internationally acclaimed vocalist Vibeke Voller and pianist Dan Papirany present an entertaining mix of Jazz, Swing, Latin and contemporary arrangements for audiences far and wide.

Based in Queensland, Norwegian-born Vibeke lives in Hervey Bay, and Dan, who was born and raised in Israel, lives in Bundaberg.

Since coming together in 2014, Vibeke’s rich, smooth voice has combined magically with Dan’s skilful and imaginative piano playing to entertain diverse audiences.

Vibeke trained as a vocalist in Oslo, Norway, and Sydney. Dan studied Jazz Piano at Massey University, Wellington. Both have been performing for more than 20 years.

The dynamic duo usually incorporates an experienced rhythm section (bass and drums) when performing.

They have performed at EUROPAfest in Bucharest, Romania, and in New Zealand at the Bay of Islands Jazz Festival and the Auckland and Whanganui Jazz Clubs.

New Zealand Committee member Angela Crawford said: “A memorable Jazz Pianist backing a great Singer from Queensland gave us top class performances, which the packed audience was quick to appreciate”
Vibeke and Dan’s Australian appearances have included the Noosa Jazz Festival, Queensland Jazz clubs (including Brisbane), corporate and community events, and restaurants.

Together they have released the Jazz albums ‘Don’t go to strangers’ in 2015, and ‘I took a chance’ in collaboration with Newmarket Music Melbourne in 2017.

Vibeke and Dan aim to fulfil the unique and brilliant potential their partnership offers, both as performers and recording artists.

“Striving for excellence with integrity is paramount and rewarding,” Vibeke said.
