Council seeks expressions of interest from individual artists to facilitate Lantern Making sessions as part of the 2019 World Whale Conference in Hervey Bay.
The theme for the conference is ‘Journeys that Inspire Change’, with delegates hearing from internationally renowned guest speakers to discuss, share evidence and better understand how we can improve and ensure the protection of cetaceans in Australia and worldwide.
Whether you're a professional artist, emerging artist or self-confessed crafty type, we invite you to submit a quote to run 5 workshop-style sessions in total. Applicants are required to have Public Liability Insurance and a current Blue Card.
Hervey Bay Regional Gallery - September 23, 25 and October 3 - 10am to 1pm
Scarness Park - September 30 and October 1 - 10am to 1pm

How it will be marketed:
Learn how to make beautiful paper lanterns that will light up City Park to mark the beginning of the World Whale Conference in October 2019. Working from a range of provided kit-based designs and materials, the community are invited to create and decorate the lanterns before they are placed in a light installation as part of the official Welcome Reception on October 7, 2019 and other special events throughout the conference. Materials are limited so arrive early each day to avoid disappointment. Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult for workshops and events.
