Little Street Library

A new way to share the joys of reading has popped up outside the PL Travers building in Richmond Street, Maryborough.

The Cherry Tree Lane Little Street Library is a beautiful new home for children's books.

A larger Street Library, made from an old restored Maryborough phone box has also popped up in the Portside Cultural Precinct.

Council invites readers to share the joys of reading with local and visiting children. Take a book, share a book, bring a book - it's free.

“The street libraries are an initiative of Fraser Coast Regional Libraries and Cultural Services,” Community, Heritage and Family Services Portfolio Councillor George Seymour said.

“It is free to use the street library. There is no need to check a book out or in. You just reach in and take a book and put it back when you’ve read it or pass it on to a friend.

“If anyone has a book or two that they think others would enjoy, they can just pop it into any street library they are walking past.”
