The Fairy Doll -  Choreographed by Tamara Gonzalez
EYC Company Dancers are joined by "friends of EYC on stage" for this delightful ballet story.
The curtain rises on a toyshop, where the shopkeeper is checking on his dolls while his assistant is acting mischievous. They are interrupted by the arrival of potential customers; a well to do family and a peasant family.
The shopkeeper shows off his dolls; Baby Dolls, A Ballerina Doll, Harlequinade dolls and Japanese dolls but none are quite suiting for the well to do family. The Shopkeeper and his assistant finally reveal The Fairy Doll; his best doll in the shop. She dances to life and the family make the purchase before the shopkeeper locks the shop up for the night.
The mischievous assistant has hidden in the shop. As night falls the magical shop comes to life and the assistant can’t believe his eyes! Spanish dolls and soldier dolls join in on the fun. The dolls dance a grand waltz before the Shopkeeper, disturbed by the noise, rushes in to find the dolls gathered around their Fairy Queen.

We are filled with “Joy” in each and everyday of our lives and as human beings this drives us to excel in multiple facets.
My approach to this choreography is to use this common emotion in life and integrate it into dance by swarming together as a group to develop the virtuosity of this extraordinary art form. Using the technical excellence of classical ballet but almost deforming it and adapting to the necessities of all dancers to be completely versatile in all forms of movement. With the highest of energy, precision and quality,  I believe to challenge the dancers to develop artistically and technically while at the same time focusing on remembering that we are all simple human beings thriving for the awareness and approach to excellence, passion and joy.
