Glenwood and Gundiah
| || || || |
The small rural locality of Glenwood is located just off the Bruce Highway, 53km south of Maryborough. Bordered by State Forest, it is a popular lifestyle choice for rural residential living.
Glenwood Community Hall and Glenwood Park, about 1 km off the highway from the Arborten Road turnoff, are the hub of the area. The shady areas bring a variety of wildlife into the park including kangaroos, wallabies, ducks and goannas.
Facilities include a BBQ area, shelter, playground and sports oval. Community Markets are held on the third Saturday of the month.
This former railway siding is named after the local aboriginal word for 'goodbye' as it was the exit way from Butchulla tribal lands. Gundiah has a school and community oval and is home to the historic Prince Alfred Hotel, originally built in 1868.
