Winning Entry - June July

“I’ve lived in the Fraser Coast region all of my life.  In this time I’ve seen it grow and develop to what it is today.  I’ve always enjoyed the freedom of being able to enjoy our relatively unimpacted environment, including the Great Sandy Strait and Fraser Island.  I’ve also always enjoyed the relatively easy-going lifestyle that surrounds the region and it is fantastic to see heritage being preserved in the Maryborough area.”

“Living on the Fraser Coast! Why wouldn’t you? Leisure, lifestyle and affordability in an area which has the perfect climate and beautiful things to see.  Our children are safe and happy and we enjoy the community lifestyle.”
Bridie White – Maryborough

“Pack a picnic, head to the beach, go for a swim or explore the rock pools for crabs – that’s how our family lives life happy.”
Amanda Bird – Point Vernon

“I love the Fraser Coast for the climate which runs rings around Melbourne area.  The people are friendly and hospitable and one is always greeted with a smile, even from strangers.  The shopping is great with lots of choices.  The parks and gardens are always maintained with plenty of activities for young and old alike. I love living here!” Lynne Nebel – Granville

“We love living in Maryborough and on the Fraser Coast because of the small town friendly atmosphere, the safety and the great open spaces for kids to enjoy.  My husband and I originally grew up in Melbourne and Brisbane respectively and we both agree that after living on the Fraser Coast we would never choose to live in a city again.  We also love the grand heritage buildings of Maryborough.”
Kim Worsley – Maryborough

“I love living in my street – friendly and co-operative neighbours.  I love the birds that come into our garden, bathing in the bird baths and feeding on the nectar.  I love walking on the walking track along the Esplanade or around the local blocks, when I check out the gardens.  Oh! There’s lots of lovely places to eat out as well!”
May Connell - Kawungan

Sitting on my verandah my Fraser Coast is making its presence felt, it is morning, the warmth is seeping through my veins and life is good. The simplicity of our lifestyle in this semi urban setting fills me with contentment.  Where else would I find Kangaroos at the bottom of the garden (better than faries?)   Watching Lorikeets chattering and quarrelling, two Wagtails aggressively trying to deter two Magpies from their territory; the Magpies, completely indifferent to the swoops and dive bombing are singing away, dipping and bobbing as their flute like songs delight my senses.

Life can be so complicated; perhaps if we stop look and listen, our Fraser Coast has something for everybody in its beauty all around us in our daily lives.  There is so much of interest to do here that we have it all, you and I.

I love the Fraser Coast with a passion for it's beauty and tranquility. The beaches of white sand and shells, the rocks and pools that hold life and mystery for the adventurous and young of heart. The pleasure the safe and inviting ocean can deliver and the havoc she can render when the elements change at the whim of Mother Nature. The diverse and varied foreshore and the areas that still remain untouched, as when Boyle Martin landed here in 1863. The generations of families who have either holidayed or lived here and have embraced all she has to offer and the cherished memories that are embedded in those peoples minds. I was not born here but my father was, I went to school, married and raised my family here. It has been my home for over fifty five years and it makes me feel very proud and safe.

I think that one of the best things about my Fraser coast region is all the cute little animals. Now some of you may not think the way I do about some of these little creatures but maybe I can change your mind. The first one is my favourite the little creature that might run from behind a box or something this is probably a gecko.  My second favourite is a kookaburra we have some amazing photos of some who came up and sat on our favourite tree and let us touch them.( they were so soft). Now this is not one of my favorites but every animal has a purpose and this is the cutest picture i could find.  The rest are all of beetles even though they are pretty cute to me. This butcher bird is eating my brothers breakfast that my dog didn't eat.
