Find Adventure
The Fraser Coast really is Australia's best nature based adventure playground. Take a little more time and you will be suprised with what you discover. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:
- Go snorkelling or diving off the beach or off Hervey Bay’s artificial reef,
the largest man-made reef in the Southern Hemisphere.
- Kayak through the Bay’s calm waters, view fish and birdlife and snorkel the
local reef .
- Go on a 4WD tour of heritage listed Fraser Island or do the Great Walk on Fraser Island.
- See whales, dolphins, turtules, dugong, mantarays and wild dingoes up close.
- Swim in crystal clear freshwater lakes.
- Walk in acienct rainforests.
- Go canoeing, sailing or jet-skiing off the beach.
- Ride a camel on the beach.
- Take a Hummer tour of Fraser Island.
- For a real adrenaline rush, try parasailing or skydive on to the beach.
- Fly in a microlight over Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.
- Dive with the sharks. No diving experience needed, but bookings are essential.
- Take a guided jet ski tour to Fraser Island taking in Round Island, Big
Woody Island, Picnic Island, Duck Island, Kingfisher Bay Resort, then
to Moon Point and Pelican Banks for dolphin and stingray spotting.
- Go horse riding, rock climbing, water skiing or parasailing at Susan River, half way between Maryborough and Hervey Bay.
- Take a scenic flight over Fraser Island,the Great Sandy Strait or Lady Elliot Island on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef.
- Go sports fishing.
Take a heli-tour to a private sand quay for a picnic lunch.
- For the most fun you can have on four wheels race your mates on single and tandem carts make this an activity for anyone from 8 to 80 years of age.
- Hire a bike and go mountain biking.
