Hervey Bay

 hervey bay beach

HERVEY BAY offers it all – from the ideal family getaway, romantic escape, eco-experience, action adventure or lifestyle change. It’s a life built around the ocean…a water lover’s paradise where you can swim, fish, dive, snorkel, windsurf, kite surf, canoe, kayak, jet ski and sail all year round.

Parklands, picnic areas, playgrounds, piers and a vibrant marina all combine with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean coastline and Fraser Island along the Hervey Bay foreshore.

The Esplanade is dotted with  alfresco cafés, restaurants, hotels, boutiques, holiday units and resorts. Along its 14km length runs a shared pathway, meandering among the trees and tracing the entire stretch of sandy
beach.

A walk on the Urangan Pier is a must for any visitor and a daily ritual for many residents. The Hervey Bay icon was built over 90 years ago and stretches out for almost a kilometre out to sea.

A walk to the end will reward with spectacular views of the Bay and the chance to see schools of fish, stingrays or even pods of dolphins just metres out to sea.

Resorts and holiday apartments overlook the Hervey Bay’s busy boat harbour, while boutiques and cafés line its shorefront. The harbour is home to Hervey Bay’s whale watch fleet, and the departure point for ferry and barge connections to Fraser Island. Charter yachts, fishing boats and pleasure craft also call this busy and picturesque marina home.

Hervey Bay began as a string of sleepy seaside villages. It is now one of Australia’s fastest growing cites – a modern, progressive city made famous as Australia’s whale watching capital. But no matter how popular, it still retains that friendly, relaxed feel that many larger holiday destinations have lost.

At “the Bay”, you can still buy pineapples and watermelons from the back of a ute parked on the Esplanade and receive cheery hellos during an early morning walk along the beach.
