River Heads
River Heads is a short scenic drive from Hervey Bay passing through Booral. The last section of road travels parallel to Fraser Island and the views are breathtaking. Barges to Fraser Island depart from here.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at the point or a barbecue at the Progress Park. The rock fishing at River Heads is excellent. Dolphins, including the rare humpback dolphin, turtles and the occasional dugong provide an ideal backdrop to any family outing.
Vehicle permits for the island are available at the Barge Ticket Office, situated right at the point in River Heads.
