Friday 29 June - Sunday 8 July 2018
in Maryborough, birthplace of Mary Poppins Author PL Travers
Each year the Mary Poppins Festival is a celebration of the stories of Maryborough and our many wonderful storytellers, attracting visitors from throughout Queensland and beyond. And as one of the oldest cities in Queensland, Maryborough has many stories to tell.
This 10 day festival celebrates storytelling for all ages through all art forms. This year, as well as the popular Day in the Park, a highlight of 2018 festival week will be a world-first community stage production of P.L. Travers' story, Happy Ever After.
There will also be a whimsical outdoor family performance titled, The Magic Banyan Tree and visiting authors, Jusin D'Ath, creator of the Extreme Adventure series, and Kate Knapp, writer and illustrator of the Ruby Red Shoes series, will be hosting workshops and storytelling sessions.
As you enjoy the festival this year please take the time to listen to the stories and create your own stories to share with friends and family.
