  • Wendy Matthews

In the immense treasure trove of beloved Australian artists, singer-songwriter Wendy Matthews is a remarkable jewel. Canadian-born, Wendy has been a constant of Australian music since Glenn Shorrock invited her to tour with him here in 1982.

As an artist Wendy Matthews has an expressive voice that never fails to move those who hear it. Her music is an unhurried journey of clean melodies, infectious energy and simple grace. In an age where uber-production techniques are thought to be hip and cynicism an attribute, Wendy has proven that commitment to beauty is still not only valid but applauded by the public ear. This is exemplified by the reality that Wendy’s music is now in more than 1 million homes in Australia and all her albums to date have multi-platinum status.

Wendy has an immense talent and capacity to capture and define a diverse range of styles in her music. She takes songs from every genre and makes them her own; from jazz to blues, from rock to gospel, from soul to outright infectious pop and then of course, there are the beautiful ballads.

Wendy immediately became an in-demand session singer in the 1980s, appearing on many commercial jingles and backing vocals for the likes of The Models Out Of Mind Out Of Sight and became a semi-permanent member of the band. She also sang on albums by Jimmy Barnes, Tim Finn, Richard Clapton and Icehouse.

In 1987, Wendy collaborated with Kate Ceberano on the ABC-TV soundtrack for the series Stringer. You’ve Always Got the Blues was released the next year reaching the Top 5 national charts, she then contributed to the Rockmelons and Peter Blakeley’s respective albums. She helped form Absent Friends and sang on the number one hit I Don’t Want To Be With Nobody But You and the album Here’s Looking Up Your Address. Wendy’s song, The Day You Went Away, was the highest selling single of 1993 and had a significant impact on the Australian music industry.

“Her music breathes beauty, grace and meaning and her persona continues to echo every reasoning behind why Australia regards her as one of our country's leading female singers.” – Tammy Lewis, The Observer

  • Buddy Knox

Gomeroi man Buddy Knox is a celebrated Indigenous blues artist out of Tamworth. He has carved up the Blues scene around Australia since 2007, having performed at all the big ticket Australian festivals from Bridgetown to Bluesfest. He just opened the Tamworth Music Festival on Main Stage in 2020 and he won the Sydney Blues Society Performer of the Year twice.

Buddy is one of our finest story tellers, and his devotion to the art form is genuine. Having grown up as an Aboriginal boy in country Australia he has travelled with his music and has a story like no other. Buddy Knox and his world-class band, comprising of his three kids and a few other amazing musicians, are constantly delivering shows for events and festival and corporate clients with rave reviews. Buddy delivers an uplifting dance floor set for big events featuring some of the best soul and blues songs loved by everyone. He’s been referred to as our very own BB, but expect a dash of Freddie King guitar style in his show. In January 2020 Buddy released his long awaited album ‘Ticket To Memphis’ out through Fanfare and Sony.

  • Isaiah Firebrace

Isaiah has an incredible story. He attended high school on the banks of the Murray River and went without food in order to fund the 6 hours of travel that was required to get to his singing lessons each Saturday. Despite the hardship experienced by so many Aboriginal people, Isaiah knew his dream would become real and that one day he would be an international recording artist.

In the past three and a half years, the talented teen has transformed from a small town singer to the most streamed First Nations artist in the world. Along the way he’s won The X Factor, represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest (finishing in the top 10) and is signed to Sony Music Australia.

Isaiah’s debut single has broken records with ‘It’s Gotta Be You’ going Double Platinum in Australia, Platinum in Norway and Sweden and Gold in Denmark, and is now notching up over 253 million international streams. The song was one of the highest streamed songs from any Australian artist in 2017 and continues to break records. Isaiah’s incredible voice is seeing his releases collectively notching over 300 million streams at only 20 years of age and solidifying his place as Australia’s most successful First Nations male, pop artist.

Prior to the unprecedented events of 2020, Isaiah had just finished a national tour with his band including 50 shows and workshops with remote and regional communities across Australia. He was able to work with people in outback Australia, sharing his journey and showing that dreams can become real with hard work and self-belief. As part of the tour, Isaiah sang his original song ‘Spirit’ with children from communities challenged by hardship.

The milestones keep adding up for Isaiah, who continues to perform on TV shows and high-profile events across the country. Isaiah adds, “It’s still all a bit surreal for me,” says Isaiah. “I’m just this guy from a little country town but if I can keep doing what I love to do and bring music to the world then I know I’m on the right path.”

Isaiah has been writing in America and Australia in collaboration with some of the finest songwriters and producers in the world. Isaiah’s talent is about to shine and despite missing being able to perform live, 2020 is shaping up to be his strongest year yet.
