Julie McGillivray: Natural Connections
A series of works from local artist Julie McGillivray will be on display in the Creative Space as part of NAIDOC Week 2024. Julie’s works are an expression of our interaction with nature.
The fauna and beachscape of our beautiful Wide Bay region has inspired Julie to accept the challenge of depicting this visual feast in mixed media.
Julie shares this experience with you through a range of mediums and textures, influenced by her cultural and spiritual background.

About the Artist
In early 2022, Julie first started painting. In this incredibly brief period of time, she has become known as a contemporary, indigenous artist, selling works both nationally and internationally.
She has also received several noted awards and prizes providing skill recognition by her peers. Several Galleries are now calling for exhibitions of her works. Julie is an enormously proud Bunjalung woman living on Butchulla country for approximately 20 years. Through her artwork, she creates powerful messages of environmental awareness and cultural respect.
Artist in Residence
Julie will be onsite as ‘Artist in Residence’ every week during her exhibition ‘Natural Connections’.
