Directed by Francois Ozon and starring among others Isabelle Huppert, this comedy is an adaptation of a play.

Set in Paris in 1935, it centres on Madeleine, played by Nadia Tereszkiewicz, a young penniless actress of limited talent and many debts, who has been acquitted of the murder of a famous French producer on the grounds of self-defence – but – is she innocent or has she just got away with murder? She gets help from her roommate, who is a lawyer.

Reviews were generally favourable, with Rotten Tomatoes commenting …’with alluring razzamatazz The Crime is Mine and its superlative cast will seduce farce lovers and Francophiles’.
