Join Joe Furlonger, one of Australia’s most respected landscape painters, for a plein air workshop set in the surrounds of Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.

Using an observational approach, practise capturing the landscape with spontaneous and gestural mark-making.

Don’t miss this chance to gain tips and tricks directly from the artist while he visits the region for the launch of Joe Furlonger: Horizons, a touring exhibition developed by the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.

BYO canvas or sketchbook and preferred materials and brushes. Basic charcoal, pencils, acrylic paint, loose paper, and butchers paper provided.

Wear suitable outdoor clothing and bring a hat and water bottle. Catered light lunch provided.

Workshop Cancellation Policy

Hervey Bay Regional Gallery cannot accept responsibility for any changes in personal circumstances. Missed workshops or change of mind are at your own expense.
If a participant chooses to cancel their confirmed registration, or cannot or does not attend the workshop, the following will apply:

  • The registered participant may invite another person to substitute their place in the workshop (in which they are registered) at any time at no charge;
  • If notice is received 2 or less days from the scheduled starting date, a refund will not be offered.
  • If a workshop is cancelled by Hervey Bay Regional Gallery a full refund or a reschedule will be provided. Hervey Bay Regional Gallery will endeavour to advise participants of cancellation at least 24 hours prior to workshop.
