An exploration of summer, through many different lenses.

Last year, the Childers Visual Arts Group embarked on a shared creative journey, choosing Summer as the theme for its upcoming exhibition. The summer season offered fertile ground for artistic interpretation. Each member has responded through a personal lens, often drawing from lived experience.

This exhibition invites you to reflect on what summer means to you. Whether it’s the scent of rain on hot earth, carefree holidays at the beach, the rituals of Christmas Day or the taste of our delicious summer fruits, Summer is a story we all share.

About Childers Visual Arts Group

The Childers Visual Arts Group is a vibrant group of over 40 artists who gather regularly at the historic Old Carpenters Shed in Apple Tree Creek, Queensland.  The group fosters artistic development, peer collaboration, and community engagement across a broad spectrum of visual disciplines.

Founded on the principles of inclusivity, collaboration, and artistic growth, the group has become a cornerstone of the local arts scene. Their weekly meetings at the Carpenters Shed are more than just creative sessions—they’re a hub of friendship, mentorship, and lively exchange, where ideas are nurtured and stories are shared.

Over the years, the Childers Visual Arts Group has played a vital role in enriching the cultural fabric of the Wide Bay region. Their exhibitions have showcased not only individual artistry but also the collective spirit of the group. Whether celebrating the natural beauty of Queensland, reflecting on local heritage, or exploring contemporary themes, their work resonates with audiences of all ages.

Beyond exhibitions, the group actively supports arts education and regional events.  Their work enriches regional culture and reflects the vibrant heart of Queensland’s artistic community.

The Childers Visual Arts Group continues to grow and evolve, welcoming new members and embracing fresh perspectives while honouring the legacy of those who have shaped its journey. At the heart of it all is a simple belief: that art, when shared, has the power to inspire, heal, and bring people together.
