Community members sought for arts advisory committee

Fraser Coast residents interested in helping advance arts and culture in the region are encouraged to express their interest in being part of a Council advisory committee.

Cr Phil Truscott said Fraser Coast Regional Council was seeking six community members for its Arts and Culture Advisory Committee.

“The Fraser Coast has a colourful and vibrant cultural life, and Council is keen to ensure the community has opportunities to appreciate arts, heritage and cultural diversity,” he said.

“The Arts and Culture Advisory Committee assists Council in promoting a wider appreciation of arts and culture on the Fraser Coast, to improve coordination of arts and cultural networks, and provides advice on the community’s arts and cultural priorities.

“Being a committee member is a voluntary role and may interest people such as, but not limited to, artists, museum representatives, the Butchulla community and industry representatives.

“It is a rewarding role, and we encourage community members with a passion and interest in arts and culture to put their hand up to be part of the committee.”

Expressions of interest are open now and close on Wednesday 26 July 2023, with more information and online application forms are available here – https://frasercoast.smartygrants.com.au/ArtsAdvisory

Appointment to the committee is for a maximum of two years with the member eligible for re-selection. The committee also includes two Councillors and two Council staff representatives.

The Committee will meet a minimum of 4 times per year and special meetings may be convened to address particular topics.
