New members appointed to arts advisory committee

Six Fraser Coast community representatives have been appointed to a Council advisory committee to help advance arts and culture in the region.

Arts and Culture Advisory Committee Chair Cr David Lewis said the new members had begun their two-year term this month.

“The Fraser Coast has a colourful and vibrant cultural life, and Council is keen to ensure the community has opportunities to appreciate arts, heritage and cultural diversity,” he said.

“The Arts and Culture Advisory Committee assists Council in promoting a wider appreciation of arts and culture on the Fraser Coast, to improve coordination of arts and cultural networks, and provides advice on the community’s arts and cultural priorities.

“The committee will also extend connections, leadership and commitment to Council’s five-year Fraser Coast Arts and Culture Strategy.

“The new members have diverse backgrounds, with expertise in theatre, visual art, music, literature and dance

“Being a committee member is voluntary, and we thank the new members for putting their hand up to advise Council and foster a greater appreciation of arts and culture within the region.”

The new community members of the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee include:

  • Matthew King;
  • Robert Mackay;
  • Shawn Wondunna-Foley;
  • Nora Hanasy;
  • Tegan Symes; and
  • Jill Byrnes.
