This drama written and directed by Georgian/Swedish Levan Akin, premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival and received the Teddy Award for the best LGBTQ film. The story focuses on Lia, a retired teacher from Georgia who goes to Istanbul accompanied by a young man in order to find her niece named Tekla, who is possibly living there now. She undertakes the search at the request of Tekla's dying mother as she has promised the dying woman that she will bring back her child. In Istanbul the unlikely pair meets members of the trans community including a lawyer named Evrim who champions the rights of transgender people. Critics generally had positive things to say about the film, calling it 'intelligent', 'with a pulsing sense of place' and 'beautifully shot'.
