Creative young storytellers
Back
In May 2007 primary school children in Maryborough were invited to a workshop to draw their impressions of the famous nanny, Mary Poppins. The children were treated to a morning of story telling and creative theatre and in the afternoon they created line drawings of their impressions.
Some of the drawings were selected to be engraved onto the steel dialogue columns installed in Richmond Street, around the corner from the Bank Building that was the birthplace of Mary Poppins author PL Travers. Two of these now reside in Mary's Garden.
These artworks recognise the importance of Mary Poppins to Maryborough. They capture the brilliance of the author through delightful drawings by talented young people in the community.
