It was described as “just a hole in the wall” next to the Queens Hotel, and there Miss Thelma Fagg would sit on her stool all day, selling cigarettes, pipes and casket tickets to clients waiting on the footpath.
She was the person to see to book a seat at the city’s movie theatres or to buy tickets to Maryborough’s many social dances and concerts.
Miss Fagg took over the Lucky Star Casket Agency as a young woman in 1941 and years later, it was said there wasn’t an adult in town who didn’t know Thelma Fagg. Thelma died in 2009.
