Maryborough CBD Public Art - Call for Artists - City Hall Mosaic

Fraser Coast Regional Council is currently working on a program schedule for the next CBD revitalisation works on Kent Street (Lennox to Adelaide streets). As part of the public art component, Council is seeking expressions of interest from artists to deliver a large mosaic approximately 1.5 metre in diameter for the entrance on the corner of Kent and Lennox streets.

The completed mosaic will be informed by historical research, collaborative discussion with Council and an element of community consultation.


The artist will be required to identify, develop and manage the artwork concept design, planning and development stages including the community workshops. Artists will supply a concept sketch following preliminary project discussions and an indicative cost breakdown and timeframe. 

  • Design to be approved by Council before commencement of work.
  • Community workshops to be included as part of the contract, (Blue Card and Public Liability Insurance required by commissioned artist).
  • Presentation of current Public Liability Insurance and Blue Card documentation.

  • Size: Diameter approximately 1.5mts.
  • Installation will be carried out by a qualified tiler.


To be negotiated with successful applicant. Materials must be safe, comply with WHS considerations and suitable for outdoor public areas, application, pavement.

Key Dates

  • Workshop dates to be negotiated with artist however because of the nature and scale of the commission discussions on a realistic time frame will be discussed. 
  • Artwork to be completed late Jan early February, 2020.
  • EOI Applications due Friday, 17 January 2020.
