The Bobkatz

For almost three decades, The Bobkatz have enjoyed incredible success in the Australian Country Music scene. Releasing six albums, seventeen singles (including two national Number #1's), fifteen music videos and three Golden Guitar Finalist Nominations. Not to mention winning “Heritage Song of the Year” & “Group or Duo of the Year” at the Southern Stars Australian 2015 Independent Music Awards and countless TSA (Tamworth songwriter Awards). Maintaining their consistency of 'real songs”, strong use of harmonies and that 'out on the veranda' organic country sound, The Bobkatz have built a steady and faithful following of “story song fans” with current worldwide plays and streams totaling 20,000 + per month. Sadly, founding member, songwriter and lead vocalist/bassist Garry Koehler passed away in October 2019 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Tribute shows to Garry at Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2020 performed by The Bobkatz, with Garry’s daughter Sarah on lead vocals, were extremely popular and after careful thought The Bobkatz decided to continue with Sarah upfront performing her father's wonderful songs. The album “The Truth Is” recorded in 2021 contains songs recorded by Garry & Rob, prior to Garry’s passing, as well as some new material and a couple of old favourites, reimagined and performed by Sarah. “The Truth Is” has been released in a Book and CD format and is more than just another "Katz" album. It double’s not only as a beautiful collection of amazing songs, but also a tribute to Rob’s best mate & Sarah’s Dad, Garry Koehler, in music, word & picture. Sarah & Rob will continue to perform as The Bobkatz carrying forward Garry's truly wonderful songs. A new album is underway due for release in mid 2023
