El 47 poster

This Spanish historical drama directed by Marcel Barrena won 5 awards at the 39th Goya Awards, including Best Picture, and smashed Spanish box office records.

Film release date: 2025. Film languages: Catalan, Spanish

Held in the Auditorium. Entry is via the terrace.

Inspired by a true story, the film shows events that took place in Barcelona in 1978. A bus driver named Manolo Vital, played by Eduard Fernandez hijacks a bus on route 47 to demonstrate to the local government that his own disadvantaged neighbourhood (he resides there with his wife and daughter) where many immigrants and impoverished families from other parts of Spain live can be accessed by bus and is therefore deserving of a bus service. Critics were almost universally enthusiastic, giving the film 5 stars, with comments calling it ‘a beautifully crafted and very effective true life drama’, a film that’ highlights social struggles that, though they began decades ago, continue to be relevant’
