Hervey Bay Regional Gallery is proud to announce the touring exhibition Appearing, which launches at Gympie Regional Gallery on Saturday 28th March 2026.

Appearing is the first institutional survey of Brisbane-based artist Tyza Hart’s practice. Appearing brings together key bodies of work produced over the past decade, charting the artist’s explorations of self-representation and embodied experience. From early self-portraits to recent immersive installations and abstract ceramic sculptures, Tyza’s practice remains grounded in an understanding of personhood as contextual and ever-changing. The artworks in Appearing embrace varying degrees of figuration and abstraction to examine what it means to inhabit a body that is porous to the world—formed through interaction rather than fixed within it.

The touring exhibition is set to share the Queenslander's artworks with new audiences. Tyza's formative years were spent in Gympie, and they continue to remain connected to the region through family.  Appearing features artwork on loan from Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, UQ Art Museum, the Gympie Regional Gallery collection, and private collections

The Gympie Regional Gallery has been closed since January 2026 for renewal works and will officially reopen on Friday 27 March at 6pm.

Visitors are welcome to join Tyza in a floor talk on Saturday 2 May

Appearing will be on view at Gympie Regional Gallery until 16 May 2026.
