A photographic window into the mid-century life and times of R.G. Parry on the Fraser Coast.Wilson, along with his extended family, are excited to bring together two generations of image-making through a deeply personal archival project drawn from his grandfather’s life and work.

This exhibition presents a curated selection from Parry’s extensive body of work, including a rare and intimate window into his private family photographs. Together, these images offer a layered portrait of a man and his family, a community, and a region across three transformative decades of the 20th century.

Between the 1940s and 1970s, R.G. Parry worked as a professional photographer on the Fraser Coast, documenting everything from local news events, weddings and formal portraiture to school photographs, landscapes, local life and moments of quiet observation. Being almost completely deaf, Parry experienced the world visually, shaping a practice defined by attentiveness, craft, and an artist’s sensitivity. Beyond photography, he was a prolific creative that worked in painting, sculpture and woodwork, but photography remained his primary livelihood and lifelong pursuit.
