Print Studio
Gatakers Printmakers Studio welcomes community members to explore the art of printmaking in a friendly and creative environment. Supervised access to the presses is available every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
Visitors are welcome to:
- Observe experienced printmakers at work
- Engage in conversation and learn about techniques
- Work on their own printmaking projects for a $10 studio fee (please bring your own inks)
Please note: Enclosed shoes must be worn in the studio at all times
Studio Equipment
- 2 Intaglio (Etching) Presses
- 1 Large Albion Relief Press
- Large inking bench & rollers
- 2 clean indoor drawing tables
- 2 outdoor tables for etching and solution work
- Containers for solution handling
- Plate-edge preparation tools
- Bench hooks & lino cutting tools
- Assorted small brushes and tools
A key feature in the studio is an 1876 Hopkinson & Cope cast iron Albion Press, No.5594. This hand-operated platen press, ideal for printing letterpress, woodcuts, and linocuts.
Printmaking Studio Hire
Experienced printmakers can hire the studio space during regular business hours (excluding Wednesdays and Saturdays). An induction is required prior to hiring, conditions apply.
Operating Hours
- Tuesday to Friday: 9:30am – 3:30pm
- Saturday to Sunday: 9:30am – 2:00pm
Hire Fees
- Half Day (4 hours): $53.00
- Full Day (8 hours): $85.00
- Extra costs for apply for hire after business hours
