Hervey Bay Regional Gallery is proud to share the gallery’s 2026 Exhibition Program, a curated suite of exhibitions that respond to our unique cultural and environmental context.

HBRG Director Sarah Thomson said, “Across this year’s program, artists explore deep connections to the natural world, the continuation and evolution of cultural practice, significant local histories and stories, and innovative approaches to time-honoured techniques.

Our 2026 program celebrates the depth of creativity on the Fraser Coast, placing our creative community in dialogue with leading artists from across Australia through a dynamic combination of original HBRG-curated exhibitions alongside collaborations with partners including the National Portrait Gallery, the National Gallery of Australia and UNSW Galleries.

This year HBRG is excited to share our exhibitions with audiences across the state by touring our exhibitions for the first time. Tyza Hart’s first institutional survey exhibition Appearing will tour to Gympie Regional Gallery and Cane heads to Rockhampton Museum of Art, strengthening our role as a leading regional gallery and extending the reach of Queensland artists and stories.”

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour commented, “Visitors to the gallery can look forward to the popular Regional Spotlight exhibition, developed through an open call to artists from the Wide Bay-Burnett, alongside a mix of curated group and solo exhibitions.

Highlights include Tracks, showcasing emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and leaders, and a solo exhibition by local artist Colin Reaney launching 6 March, celebrating creative talent from the Fraser Coast.”

The annual program launches with the opening of Colin Reaney: objects in a situation, Anastasia Klose: World Without End and Rachel O’Reilly: Northern Waters on Friday 6 March, from 5:30pm.
