Fraser Coast Regional Council undertook a major restoration of this significant heritage-listed building as part of a plan to position Maryborough’s Portside Precinct as a vibrant, active centre for arts and culture. Maryborough’s Portside Precinct incorporates heritage buildings and significant historic streetscapes that make a fundamental contribution to Maryborough’s image and character as well as its cultural heritage.
Gatakers Creative Space, which opened in May 2022, is a double-storey, multi-purpose arts space providing opportunities for artists, community groups, individuals and visitors to connect, create and collaborate. The upgraded facilities include studio spaces, printing presses, kilns, WiFi and a retail space.
