Gatakers Creative Space Restoration Works
Fraser Coast Regional Council undertook a major restoration of this significant heritage-listed building as part of a plan to position Maryborough’s Portside Precinct as a vibrant, active centre for arts and culture.
Maryborough’s Portside Precinct incorporates heritage buildings and significant historic streetscapes that make a fundamental contribution to Maryborough’s image and character as well as its cultural heritage.
Gatakers Creative Space, which opened in May 2022, is a double-storey, multi-purpose arts space providing opportunities for artists, community groups, individuals and visitors to connect, create and collaborate. The upgraded facilities include studio spaces, printing presses, kilns, WiFi and a retail space.

This restoration project was jointly funded by the Australian Government's Community Development Grants Programme and the Queensland Government's Building Our Regions Funding in association with Fraser Coast Regional Council.
