Artist In Residence: Kay Watanabe

Kay Watanabe will undertake an Artist in Residence at Gatakers Artspace, a program designed to provide artists with time and space to develop new work and experiment with printmaking techniques. The residency also offers the local community the opportunity to see Kay at work, gaining insight and inspiration into the creative processes behind printmaking.

Originally from Japan and now based in Brisbane, Kay is a multidisciplinary visual artist specialising in printmaking, alongside painting, drawing, photography, small sculpture, and artist books. Her work explores the relationship between humanity and nature, and she has exhibited widely both across Australia and internationally in solo and group exhibitions, in gallery and online settings.

Kay will be in Print Studio for personal creation from 10am to 2pm on the following days:

Friday, 26 June

Artist in Conversation

Join Kay during her residency for an Artist in Conversation, an opportunity to gain insight into her printmaking practice while enjoying a relaxed evening in the print studio with fellow creatives.
