Dry Point Workshop with Kay Watanabe

Next date: Saturday, 27 June 2026 | 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM

KayWatanabe-Drypoint

Explore the process of drypoint printmaking in this hands-on workshop with Brisbane artist/printmaker Kay Watanabe.

Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking method. Images are scratched into a metal or plastic plate with a pointed tool like an etching needle. The scratches create a burr along their edges which holds ink, resulting in expressive lines in the print.

This one-day drypoint workshop by artist/printmaker Kay Watanabe provides the basics of the drypoint printmaking technique and additional techniques to enhance the beauty of drypoint. Participants will be introduced to various materials and tools to make beautiful and interesting prints.
