Makerspace Usage Agreement

Library members must read and sign the following Makerspace Usage Agreement to be permitted to enter the Makerspace and use the resources and equipment within. Members aged 12 to 15 years require a parental signature when signing this agreement. The Makerspace Usage Agreement must be acknowledged and re-signed every 12 months.

1.0

Access and Use

1.1

Makerspace access is restricted for patrons under 12 years of age.

1.2

Patrons must check into the Makerspace using their library card prior to entry.

1.3

Equipment Skill Checks must be completed with library staff prior to use of any Makerspace equipment.

1.4

All reasonable direction given by library and Makerspace staff must be followed.

1.5

Patrons must act in a courteous and respectful manner and never verbally or otherwise abuse other library users or library staff.

1.6

The Makerspace and all equipment, tools, material and resources within may not be used on behalf of a business or for profit in any way.

1.7

Patrons must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or consume, administer, or distribute these substances within the Makerspace.

2.0

Personal Items and Safety

2.1

Patrons must wear closed in shoes, secure or remove any loose jewellery or clothing, and tie back or contain long hair.

2.2

Food and drink are not permitted to be brought into the Makerspace, except for sealed water containers that will not spill if dropped.

2.3

Patrons are responsible for their own private data and accounts, including logging out of accounts and deleting personal files.

2.4

All safety requirements and procedures must be followed and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly worn as required.

3.0

Equipment, Tools and Materials

3.1

All equipment, tools and resources within the Makerspace must be shared between patrons.

3.2

High risk tools are unavailable to anyone under 18 years of age.

3.3

Any loaned tools or resources in the Makerspace are the responsibility of the borrowing patron, making sure no unauthorised use occurs.

3.4

Patrons are not permitted to bring their own tools or equipment into the Makerspace.

3.5

Makerspace tools and equipment must not be taken out of the Makerspace.

3.6

Patrons must always tidy and clean their work area after use and must return all tools and materials to their designated storage area.

4.0

Content and Copyright

4.1

Patrons may never undertake the construction or design of any prohibited content as outlined in the Makerspace Conditions of Entry.

4.2

Patrons must adhere to and comply with all copyright and license requirements as set by the creators of any intellectual property.
