Join award-winning comedy writer, producer and director Declan Fay for a fun and interactive workshop exploring how humour can help bring stories to life. For young people aged 12-18 years.

Whether you're interested in short stories, sketches, scripts or even stand-up comedy, Declan will show young people how to find the funny in everyday life and turn their ideas into engaging stories. Drawing on his experience writing for hit shows including Ronny Chieng: International Student and You're Skitting Me, Declan will share practical techniques for generating ideas, building jokes and developing them into finished pieces of writing.

About the Speaker:

Declan Fay is an award-winning writer, producer, director and podcaster, who has worked with everyone from Ronny Chieng to Russell Crowe to Rove McManus.

He co-created the award-winning TV comedy series Ronny Chieng: International Student which screened all over the world. He has written for Rove, Dirty Laundry Live, The Great Debate, Fancy Boy and You’re Skitting Me. He co-created the ABC narrative comedy podcast, Crossbread, which won an AWGIE, and was also nominated for an ARIA. He has worked on feature films such as Standing Up for Sunny, How to Make Gravy and the upcoming Sooshi Mango feature film.

Declan has directed many award-winning comedy festival shows by comedians such as Felicity Ward, David Quirk and Greg Larsen. While his writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Age, and The Herald-Sun, and many other publications. He currently teaches comedy and screenwriting at Collarts.
