Kick off the Lines in the Sand Festival by celebrating some of the incredible writers and illustrators who call the Fraser Coast home.

Meet a collection of local authors and illustrators as they share their books, creative journeys and insights into the writing and publishing process. Browse book displays, chat one-on-one with creators and discover your next great read.

This special showcase also offers the chance to meet some of the festival's visiting authors, making it the perfect way to start a weekend of stories, ideas and inspiration.

Perfect for avid readers, aspiring writers and those curious about the creative talent in our region. Come along and celebrate the vibrant literary community of the Fraser Coast.

About the Authors:

Celia Berrell hosts www.sciencerhymes.com.au, sharing your poems about science for Science Week each August. She co-hosts Australian Children’s Poetry with Curator Linda Davidson and volunteers as an Ambassador for Queensland Writers Centre’s “Writing Friday™” programme at the Hervey Bay Library.

Candice Deere lives in Maryborough with her husband and three kids. She loves swimming in the ocean, watching movies with her family, and flash mobs. Portable is her first novel.

Shelby Matheson is a multi-genre author from Hervey Bay, Queensland, currently publishing in the middle-grade and young-adult space. Her debut series, Elsewhere, is a middle-grade historical fantasy trilogy set in WWI, published by Wombat Books.

Pamela Meacle, a born helper, shares her story through charity work and in My Cup Runneth Over. In 1992 Pamela was hit by a speeding four wheel drive which resulted in severs injuries that almost ended her life.

Glenda Mitchell is a South Africa born motivational coach, keynote speaker, and published author. Glenda combines her business degree with over 30 years of corporate experience, working with individuals and teams across various industries.

Samantha Smith is the author of Paying It Forward, a heartwarming children's book that encourages young readers to learn the value of kindness, generosity and helping others. Written for parents, grandparents and carers to share with the children in their lives.

Emma Thorp has illustrated picture books for author Annette Tyson, who has self-published three books through Foot and Playsted Printers, and added special images hidden in each page for children to find.
